By city Streets the City is endless, little hints of what it is, but it's
placelessness is perfected, each strip mall, every business park, and post-
war cul-de-sac could be anywhere Tracy, OC, LA,
Lost in it's own lack of identity, there is a neighborhood in Clovis that looks
just like Lakewood, a history I personally know
Anchor points remind me of my new home: ponds, local chains, the
University, the speed limits, the weather, the dust
By Freeway and Highway, the City is distinctly what it is, carved by farms,
fields, and rivers, a metropolis dropped from heaven by Saint Joachim’s
river, a grove of Ash trees, sacred trees - keeping the pterodactyl in or
out?
Fresno in the wrong light you look like anywhere - nowhere California - a
placeless place, uncanny but too familiar. In the right light- alien, different
and an adventure and I like exploring.
I will root here, and drink the river water and eat the raisins, the Sun Maid
factory is just down the street, I will battle the Night Crawler and bless the
sacred Ash groves in hopes they bless me
