A Poet's Wife

Poetry oh poetry
How you’re wild and free
Poetry oh poetry
How you're boring to me
Poetry oh poetry
How you lie…
How you lie and tell me how great the world is
Friends are kind
And no one lay behind
Nothing shall die
Everything is fine
But I guess that’s fine
Maybe you have found
The happiness in the world everyone is looking for
Maybe you found the earth’s core
Or maybe you aren’t like that at all
Maybe you just speak your mind
Either way for that girl you went blind
You stand on a thin bough
Look who is the poet now
I’ll stab the knife farther then you can reach
So you can make your great preach
On how the world is great and love is in the air
But yet our sheets are bare
Because nothing is fair
When you marry a poet
He hurts you but don’t show it
I’m sick of your games
And your hoaxing way
But hopefully this knife will keep you at bay
