Toxic lake

This toxic lake pulls me under,
In it’s waves I plunder
I try to swim and get to shore
But the choices I make sink me more
It burns and I can’t escape
No matter the turn I take

I feel as though I’m drowning

I swim in circles seeking an escape
But the horrid bond takes its shape.
I have no shoulder to cry
I fear never again will I be dry
Hopelessly I swim yet, no escape is nigh.

I feel as though I’m drowning
