Hey Dude!

Hey dude,
I know it's been a while since we've actually talked.
I mean sure we'll talk.
Only if you need to ask me a question or some other mundane thing.
We used to be so close.

What happened?

You were a stranger to me before we met and now it seems the same.
You were intimidated by me when we first met.
It was very flattering, thinking back.

I don't even fully remember when or even why we started talking in the first place.
It just happened

Before we would hang out in person, we would text.
Do you remember that?
Do you remember the first time we actually talked, face to face?
We went to the grizzly stadium, and played the national anthem.

On the bus ride home you mentioned you wanted cotton candy.

“You should've asked me sooner”

-Fast forward-

We texted so often, spending late nights just texting back and forth.
You shared so much with me, and I did the same.

Summer before high school, one day you showed up in front of my house.
We just chilled that whole summer.

Do you remember the day we went to talk by the canal?

What about that summer day we spent all of sun outside?

Returning to my house and staying out until 9, talking about the most random stuff, becoming grossed out by the flying cockroaches, and having our blood sucked dry by the mosquitoes.

-9th grade

Entering high school I helped you “get the girl”
You were beyond grateful and we helped each other out.

I knew you would always be there.

At least that's what I thought.

Halfway through the year I started feeling us drift.
To this day I'm not even sure why.
I've heard rumors why, but never got the truth.

-Start of 10th grade-

We came back to school. We had an ice breaker game in our P.E class.
You didn't have a partner and neither did I at the time. We paired up to play the game.

It was so much fun.

At that moment I knew I would get my close friend back.

-current-

Hey Dude!

We finish sophomore year in less than 2 months. Can you believe it? Isn't that exciting!

dude?

Oh wait.

I never got you back.
