Eternity's Eye

In the silence,
I still can't hear the
Sound of my beating heart

I thought I would sink into
The dust beneath my feet
I guess less time passed
Than some would think

The gravity has much
less pull on me
I feel so light
In the midst of a starry sea

The impact left the surface scarred
But escaping this crater will not be hard

As I clear it in the endless night sky
I see the earth rise
For the first and last time

If I could still breathe
It would hold my eye
But dark and then light
Are all that I see
As I leave time
And arrive in eternity
