Life

Life! what a beautiful thing,
To have it, to hold it, to be it, to love it, to lose it
A simple yet sublime place
I am lucky, no not luck I am spoiled
To have it, and not want it
To treat it as if it’s the dirt that everyone walks on
I have drifted to a place between life and death
Wishing I was one and not the other
As if it is a paper that can be torn into pieces
I have often longed for the other
As if it is a hat that can be taken off and put on again time after time
I have often tried the other
As if it is a friend that can be replaced
I have often been obtuse to the spoil of life
But! not everyone has legs that can walk on dirt
And that paper will no longer be readable
And that hat will soon be old and torn
And that friend is the only one who loves me
Life! to have, to hold, to be it, to love it, to lose it,
And most of all to not want it.
