My Dog Max

Around every corner you still wait for me,
Greeting me wagging,
Like it used to be.
Then the empty arrives
Piercing right into me.
But my smile says you're here,
In my heart, now pain free.
Grandchildren accept
That you're gone.....
They can see. Saying Max is in heaven with God,
Let it be.
But I feel you in every room
Where I go.
Your ball in your mouth
But no squeaking to show.
My job is complete
Unemployed doggy mom.
Now I must be retrained,
As this chapter is through.
But your memory lingers Bringing me back to you
......As you still wait around every corner......
