Beauty Unseen

A cotton candy sunrise
Paints vibrant colors across the sky
My eyes widen in wonder
As I watch the world and start to cry

I breathe in the scent of flowers
that bloom and live despite the cold
Expensive cars and poor souls zoom by
dismissing colors pastel and bold

Wild grass grows long and thick
Old trees stand proud and strong
Salty tears stain faces of youth
Who fight hard during days too long

Crashing waves against weathered mountains
Judge the world for how it seems
Broken souls watch the light from the shadows
Stubborn minds leaving beauty unseen
