Ode to New Life

Oh life!

So beautiful,

tender

and fragile.

In the beginning,

a dark womb.

In the end,

a dark tomb.

At the end of 39 weeks,

intense moments of

pain, sweat,

and shrieks.

Her.

She pushes

with grand force,

in the middle

of the room.

You,

the subject of

hard labor,

an innocent child.

Free spirited

Joyous and wild.

Mother dearest,

so beautiful,

Tender,

and fragile.

Her eyes overflowed with

tears. Were they happy?

Or in fear?

Nonetheless, they

Appeared.

And now,

I’m here.
