Believe

Life stops & begins

When you hear
And you know
It
Will
Never be the same again

Alone
Adrift
Waiting to see

Unreal
Surreal
Is this really happening?

Young faces
In the halls
Same journey
But so young
So unfair
I have at least had time

My family leaves
The elevator door shuts
I push my IV pole
Down the hospital hall
Cap on my bare head
I can’t believe this is
where I am

Shared journeys
Different lives
United forever

My son
His stories
Bring joy
To my afternoon

My daughter is 10
Watching her play
In my room
Her imagination
Is so great
In spite of this
We march on

At MRI
Meeting my oncologist
What?
This is unreal

They drive to SF Friday nights
To see me
Pack Thur night
Load car in morning
Husband picks up our daughter from school
Dinner on way, kind owner who they see weekly treats to ice cream-he is so sorry for them
Get to hospital
The goal-park & enter before security
sets up

My son by my bedside
Family goes to lunch
So sick & tired from chemo
He stays to hold my hand

Suprises
Gerlinda-Joys of scratchers at the end-I will never forget you-You will always be hope
Bethanie-Prince & Pismo’s-sharing, learning & enduring friendship

Who knew leukemia would give me this
