Winter

WINTER

Winter is coming to the place where we live
The rains will be falling down soon
They will wash away summer and bright sunny days
And darken the skies that were blue.

Winter is coming to the place where we live
It brings on the cold wind and chill
It dampens the bones and brings on aches and moans
And it slows down an old person’s will.

Winter is coming to the place where we live
Hot toddies and teas are a part
They warm up the body, but not so the soul
For the soul is warmed up by the heart.

Winter is coming to the place where we live
And reminds us that life’s moving fast
We can’t slow it down or turn it around
But we hope for the warmth of the past.

Winter is coming to the place where we live
And a fire must be built in the hearth
We must stoke it each day so it won’t fade away
And with it the warmth from our heart
