State of Flux

Selfish,
shedding like a snake,
a lone wolf prowling,
lying, leaving, like a magpie.
May fly, may die,
hoarding hearts like a dragon might,
leaving a parasite
leeching your love,
an amalgamation of creatures
it’s true,
a monster you married
and promptly slew.
