Heroes in the Shadows
They are heroes.
The woman who is a doctor, with ten kids.
Or the father of the little girl just three houses down,
who just came back from a war.
Your hero could be the teenager who saved you when
you jay walked across the street.
They are some of the greatest heroes.
Maybe your hero is the child who once helped an elderly
woman carry her bags of fresh fruit to her car.
Your hero could also be the public speaker who made
a speech about how important all people are whether
you are white, black, tan, or copper skinned.
No matter what religion you are or what ethnicity
you might be. The speaker said, “And it doesn’t matter
what your background is.” Or maybe your heroes
are your mom and dad who have worked long and hard
to make you the person you are and to provide for you.
Your hero could be that teacher from fourth grade
who said, “You can do anything, if you put your mind to it
and try your best.” A hero can be rich or poor.
A hero can come from anywhere. Are you a hero?
